So you travel 2500+ miles into the Pacific and the first thing you notice is a sign that somebody bought at a garage sale on Eastern Island. A little black marker to take out the N and you’ve got you’re new Easter Island welcome sign.
I’m starting a new project about visiting Easter Island. You can see it at Go Visit Easter Island.
Imagine playing soccer with the out of bounds being the Pacific ocean and your only spectators being ancient Moai. I could get used to that. They actually have a regulation soccer field on the island but this looks so much more romantic.
This is the beer for the end of the world. Taken in Punta Arenas, Chile, just off the Straits of Magellan.
Very good beer made by German immigrants in Chile. Can’t find it for sale in the United States.
Another project of mine is Red Card Clothing which is a soccer blog I started a few years ago. My focus is on NASL and MLS clothing. I keep trying to hunt down cool shirts to write about. The cool thing is the more popular soccer becomes, the more retro items that become available. Thank the Cosmos, Sounders, Whitecaps, and Timbers for that.
When I moved to Minnesota seven years ago I was lucky enough to connect with a group of soccer fans who were passionate about their team, the Minnesota Thunder. When the team went bankrupt after 20 years of playing they let their domain lapse. To make sure that the name didn’t fall into the wrong hands, I spent an obscene amount of money to purchase it at auction to protect the legacy of professional soccer in MN. Now it’s our job to help tell that story.
Have you ever had acupuncture? I haven’t but I’m going to try it out tonight. Not sure what to expect but I will say that I’m not a fan of needles. I’ve heard great things and people swear by it. I met with Barb, the owner of Merriam Park Acupuncture last week to talk about her WordPress website and what she can do to make it better. After talking about acupuncture with her I’m going to try it for myself. She’s located right down the street from my house so that makes it super convenient. If you’re curious you should check it out too. And since I do what I do for a living, here’s an awesome anchor text link for their site: St. Paul acupuncture.
Follow up note. I’ve been getting acupuncture now for a year and I think it works great. It’s fantastic for stress and very relaxing.
Going to do a on-the-fly SEO diagnostics review of sites submitted. Should be a good time! Come by and say hello.
As you can tell from this video, I share amazing SEO secrets that Google does not want you to know. That must be why there’s no sound on the video.
Annyway, the most challenging thing with reviewing WordPress sites is they are so SEO friendly that most of the recommendations I can made were keyword recommendations, unique title tags, and using the right plugins for analytics, etc. Made lots of linking recommendations too. Really, you don’t have to look much further than http://yoast.com/wordpress/ for your SEO plugin needs.
Fantasy Camp is pretty sweet. Here’s a picture from the first one in 2010.
Didn’t score a goal in the game but I think I’m going to put together a video of my near misses. The team posted a blog about the day (now removed – it’s like the NSC didn’t own a soccer team at all). Did a morning of training, worked a 3 hour shift at Menards, and then got to play in the big game. I also got to experience magic spray. No wonder why players roll around so much. That stuff is awesome! Can’t wait until next year. It should be bigger and better.
Update – 2011 Fantasy Camp
The 2011 was twice as big as the year before. The team was so inspired by our play they went on and won the NASL championship. Still didn’t score a goal but I did make a beautiful pass from the half line that went in for a goal but I didn’t get credit for it. It was ruled an own goal.
How do you rank for a very competitive keyword locally? You do everything you’re suppose to and then wait. I’ve been working with two really nice people and I’ve been trying to help them promote their photography business. They are Minneapolis wedding photographers. So the challenge is trying to optimize a site that is essentially built in Flash and is almost impossible to add content. Of course the hardest thing for optimizing local is being patient. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
It’s amazing how much the local ranking factors change and how much they stay the same. Tactics may change but the overall strategy is pretty consistent.
